Say hello to the long weekend

I was sitting here thinking about how I was going to spend my Labor Day and it struck me, I don’t even know why we have a Labor Day!  So with a little help from my friend Wikipedia I quickly learned that, “The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create “a day off for the working citizens”‘

So luckily for us, we’ve got a long weekend because of the labor union in NYC!  It’s a pretty longstanding holiday, here are a few of the major events that happen every Labor Day.

Walking across the Mackinac Bridge! (Anyone know why this is such a big deal? If so let me know in the comments!)

Personally, I’ll be heading to boomsday because they do an awesome job with the fireworks show (one of the largest in the US I believe?) My favorite part is where fireworks “rain” from one of the bridges over the Tennessee River!

Have a great Labor Day weekend!
