It is August again and that means its back-to-school time. If your kids are like mine they are just as glad as I am that the school year is here (even if they won’t admit it out loud).
To help promote the benefits of reading this summer Abunga.com announced our first Abunga Kids’ Choice Book Award. Kids can go online now through September 1 and nominate their favorite books read over the summer. The winning book will be announced September 15. Each child who makes a nomination is entered into a drawing to receive a $20 Abunga.com gift certificate. There are different categories based on grade levels and one gift certificate will be awarded per grade level category. For more information view our press release.
My hope is to get the word out to teachers these first couple of weeks of school about the book award nominations and the incentive for students. We have a bookmark that can be downloaded from the web site to be distributed in the classroom. Please feel free to pass this information along to any students or teachers you know.
Speaking of classrooms, I am brainstorming creative ways to create a program on Abunga where teachers could win Abunga gift certificates as well. We need to support our nation’s teachers any way possible and gift certificates to a bookstore with deep discounts on the books they buy for their students would be a great way to do this.
If you have any creative ideas on a program Abunga.com could implement to help teachers stock up on book for their classrooms I would love to hear about it. You can post your comments to the blog or send me an email at customerservice@abunga.com.
Enjoy the breather as the kids head back to school. Make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, curl up on the couch and grab a good book to read. If you are looking for a new book to read I know where you can find a million or so to choose from.

What good is a gift certificate to a store that doesn’t ship your order, call you back or return e-mails? How in the world can I get in touch with customer service and find out where my books are????
@Frustrated Shopper – Thank you for your recent order and your blog comment. I do apologize that you couldn’t get a hold of us on the phone, and I’m sorry our response rate to your email was below your expectations. We do try to respond to customer emails and calls in under 24 hours, and I’m sorry our response to your question has taken almost all of that time.
In looking into your order it seems our distributor has had a hang up with processing. I’m estimating that your order will be shipped by tonight and if so, it could arrive in time for you to give them as favors for your party.
I am extremely sorry to put a kink into your plans – if the books do not arrive in time, please let me know gavin (at) abunga.com and I’ll make sure we make things right.
Thank you for your business and your time.
